Vincent van Gogh could make even inanimate objects feel alive, and this Bouquet of Flowers is notable for its special quality. It reminds us of the mixed bouquets he painted in Paris, but the blocky brushwork and rich ochers connect it to his last days in Auvers. I picked this piece for The Floral Gallery because it shows Van Gogh at his boldest and most direct.
